Tanya Sweeny - Principal
Tanya Sweeny is a Principal at Good Harbor and leads the Aviation practice. She serves as the company's lead subject matter specialist in Aviation safety and security and is based in Abu Dhabi. Ms. Sweeny has more than 20 years experience in counter terrorism, security, business resilience, and risk management in aviation, defense industries and the United Nations. Over her career, Ms. Sweeny has conducted detailed technical risk assessments and provided strategic security planning support for a wide range of international agencies, both civil and defense.
Prior to joining Good Harbor, Ms. Sweeny worked for Qantas Airlines as the Manager Group Business Resilience with responsibility for the global aviation emergency response and business continuity operations for the Qantas Group of companies. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Sweeny spent several years as an executive manager in several roles within the international aviation sector. Her portfolio of responsibilities included the principal representative for all international Qantas Group security issues, management and leadership of the deployed operational security response to several international terrorist incidents and the Indian Ocean Tsunami, Security Project Manager for the design, acquisition and delivery of the A380 Qantas fleet and the Emerging Technologies Capability Development Manager responsible for the research, development and implementation of a progressive, integrated, next generation security solution to support the International Transport industry.
During her tenure with United Nations Development Program, Afghanistan, Ms. Sweeny served in Kabul as the Deputy Operations Manager for the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Program responsible for directing all UN support operations for the preparation and development of all operational and security plans relating to the implementation of the DDR program.
Ms. Sweeny holds a Business Degree from Edith Cowan University and post graduate qualifications in Information Management and Analysis, Applied Indonesian Language, Telecommunications Systems Engineering and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Aviation Security (AVSEC) management certification.
