Mike Edgerton - Principal

Mike Edgerton is a principal with Good Harbor with over 20 years experience with maritime security, security risk management, critical infrastructure protection, and crisis management. During his military career in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, he served in operational positions as well as key positions pertaining to maritime and port security.

Mr. Edgerton began his military career as a U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer. He served on multiple deployments with carrier battle groups attached to the U.S. Second, Sixth, and Seventh Fleets. In the Coast Guard, Mr. Edgerton served as the Chief of the Port Security Branch at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters and served as a Coast Guard representative at the Interagency Commission on Crime and Security in U.S. Seaports. Further, he managed the Coast Guard's Foreign Port Assessment program, conducting port security assessments in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Mr. Edgerton also served as a primary U.S. expert on maritime piracy and participated in several international fact-finding and diplomatic missions to Southeast Asia. Mr. Edgerton has extensive crisis management field experience and has served as an Operations Section Chief for real-world security contingencies as well as major security exercises. Mr. Edgerton also served as the Chief of Operations for operational Coast Guard units in Long Island, NY and Connecticut during and immediately after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

After leaving military service, Mr. Edgerton was employed by the Coast Guard as a Port Security Specialist where he focused on interagency coordination and risk management and served as Vice Chair of a regional Area Maritime Security Committee. He then joined C & H Patriot Security as Assistant Director, Transportation Security. In that position, Mr. Edgerton provided international consulting services regarding the implementation of the International Ship and Port Security Code as well as risk management principles. Further, he has provided advisory services to domestic clients regarding the implementation of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002. He has written several articles regarding maritime security that have been published in professional journals. Mr. Edgerton received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and a Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College.
